It is through this approach that we have grown a loyal and high calibre portfolio of clients across the public and private sector.

Eamonn Doran & Bláithín Cray
Founding Partners

Eamonn Doran and Bláithín Cray are the founding partners of Doran Cray Architects. Eamonn and Bláithin studied Architectural Technology in Waterford Institute of Technology graduating in the late 1990s. Both worked in various architectural practices before setting up Doran Cray in 2002.

Eamonn is a registered Architect with the RIAI and RIBA and has over 25 years’ experience in both the public and private sector. He was an associate director with UK based practice, Lewis and Hickey Architects. He was also the lead consultant project architect for various public works projects spanning over 20 years, which include Bru Na Boine, Newgrange Visitor Centre, Muckross House and Dublin Castle. He has built up a particular expertise in the delivery of housing, leading several large residential masterplans throughout Ireland.

Bláithín went on to study Architecture at Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, England, where she learned to combine her technical experience with creative thinking. She has over 20 years experience in projects across the commercial, leisure and residential sectors. Bláithín worked for the OPW on the upgrade and expansion of Dublin Zoo and for Brian Hogan Architects on projects including the proposal for a New Building for the State Pathology service at Beaumont hospital and upgrades to Liberty Hall.

Barry McKenna
Senior Architect
Associate

Barry is a member of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI) and has over 11 years experience across a wide range of projects including residential, commercial, community and sport, as well as bespoke one-off dwellings.
As the leader of the design and planning team, Barry is responsible for preparing, managing and co-ordinating feasibility studies and planning submissions within the practice. Barry collaborated closely with Proctor Matthews Architects in the development of a large residential scheme at Corballis East. Barry’s understanding of the architectural process makes him a key figure in the practice, driving the success of projects from concept through to completion.

Darragh Moore
Senior Architectural Technologist
BIM Manager & BIM Co-Ordinator.

Darragh studied Architectural Technology at Technological University Dublin. He has 10 years experience working in architecture. Darragh worked for various architectural practices before joining Doran Cray Architects in 2018.

Darragh is a construction design team leader, he has led several large-scale residential projects such as Barnoaks in Citywest and Semple Woods in Donabate, Co. Dublin.

He is also both the BIM manager and BIM Co-ordinator. As BIM manager Darragh is responsible for overseeing the BIM strategy. This includes managing the BIM software and licenses, defining and implementing BIM standards and protocols, and ensuring our office stays updated with the latest BIM practices.

As the BIM Coordinator, Darragh is responsible for coordinating BIM workflows between different disciplines and managing digital construction models on specific projects. Through this role Darragh provides the practice with significant benefits in terms of, collaboration with other design consultants, design control, quality and speed.

Fergal Kelly
Senior Architectural Technologist
Associate

Fergal studied Architectural Technology at Waterford Institute of Technology. He has over 25 years experience working in architecture. Fergal worked for various architectural practices before joining Doran Cray Architects in 2014.

He is the manager of the construction design teams in the office and has led them in the delivery of a number of large-scale residential schemes such as Barnoaks in Citywest, Bakerhall in Navan, Co. Meath and Taylor Hill in Balbriggan.

Fergal acts as a mentor contributing to the supportive and collaborative culture of our team, helping to support and guide junior staff members in their professional growth and development.

Michael Gordon
Senior Building Inspector
Associate

Michael studied Quantity Surveying at Edinburgh Napier University in Scotland. He has over 14 years experience working as a building surveyor. Michael previously worked for a housing body and a large commercial client in the UK, as their in-house building surveyor.

Michael has an essential role in the practice leading the BCAR and building surveying team. This team manages the BCAR Certification process and also carries out site inspections, monitoring the works being constructed on site to ensure they are being constructed in accordance with the permitted designs and building regulations.

Joan Denny
Finance
HR & Completions Manager

Joan has extensive experience of Finance and HR operations in both the Construction and Healthcare sectors and has completed a Graduate Diploma in Management with CMI. She has worked with the company since 2018 and maintains responsibility for the company’s Finance and HR functions, together with managing and coordinating all completion stage certification processes for large scale residential developments.
